A man determined to give back to his community rallied his friends, raised funds and painted a family home in Zwelethemba.
According to Lungisa Bushwana, giving back to his community is more about restoring the dignity of those who find them in situations where they are unable to contribute financially.
Last Saturday (18 February), Bushwana and his friends started the day off by painting a home at a neighbourhood called Bhongweni.
“My community is very close to my heart and being able to assist someone who is not in a position to, is very satisfactory.”
When covid hit about two years ago and many people got retrenched, homes also suffered in appearance.
“I noticed that there were houses who have not been painted for a long time and in a quest to restore that home’s dignity, I decided to embark on this project where I raise funds, gathered my friends and we painted it.”
Though they only painted one house last week, the community man hopes to paint 10 houses a month in Zwelethemba, with the help of the community.
Anyone who wishes to assist or be part of the project may contact Bushwana on his Facebook profile Mshira Bushwana or on his cellphone on 0787277149.
