The prospect of higher education for the class of 2020 may seem like a distant reality because of the economic pressures brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is providing relief through easy access, reach and partnerships that are bearing fruit, so more youth can be helped in chasing their dream. To date the scheme has received 188 733 applications, and there is still a month to go for students to submit their applications.
NSFAS does expect higher volumes, and hopes to help more students in the new academic year. Applications can be submitted through the online myNSFAS portal, and new applicants need a copy of their ID document or birth certificate. The closing date for prospective applicants is 30 November, and students are urged to apply as early as possible.
