Boland College in Worcester has a new campus manager.
“My career as a teacher started in January 1983 at Breerivier Secondary. I worked there for six years before being seconded to the Education College of Sohnge in 1989. It was an honour for me to be involved in the training of teachers and to make such a contribution to schooling and educators of future leaders of our society,” explains David Cronje who was recently appointed as manager.
In 2008 Cronje was appointed as Faculty Manager for Information Technology and Security Studies. In 2010 he was reappointed as Head of the Department of Farming and Information Technology and in 2015 it changed to Head of the Department of Farming and Security Studies.
“Everyone strives to achieve the highest goal in life. Some achieve it early in their lives while others patiently have to work their way to the highest level of achievement. Yes, it has always been my dream to be in a managerial position.”
With his appointment as campus manager, he realised that his main focus should be the teaching of students and their learning as well as the overall support to the staff to function optimally and effectively.
“It is important to me that staff should be given opportunities to develop themselves to the benefit of the college and the wider community. Worcester campus should be a training institution par excellence. The community must see the college as an institution where they can realise their future dreams,” he explains.
Cronje is a person who strives to protect the human dignity of every human being and to allow everyone to develop his or her full potential. He is passionate about the world he works and teaches in and is even more passionate about the development of people and learners.
His colleagues describe him as someone who motivates people and always searches for the good in people.
“I rely on the experience of senior colleagues. I use them as a benchmark and strive to bring out the best in each person.”
The managerial team at the Worcester Campus is happy with the appointment of Cronje in this position. They said his dream of striving for the best has become a reality.
They bid him good luck with this new journey and believe it will be successful.
