The Western Cape National Senior Certificate (NSC) Awards took place on Tuesday morning at Leeuwenhof, the Premier’s residence, in Cape Town.
Premier Alan Winde and MEC David Maynier both attended the event. Schools and learners who did well at the end of last year’s matric exams were awarded for the excellent academic achievements.
At the event various Breede Valley learners and schools made the honours list.
Worcester’s Drostdy Technical High School was presented with the award as third best technical school in the province.
And three learners were among only 16 learners in the Western Cape who received honours for obtaining full marks for a subject:
Tourism – Wilme van Dijk, Worcester Gymnasium; SA Sign Language, home language – Amahle Jemane, De la Bat School; Engineering Graphics and Design – Ulrich Lourens, High School Montana.
At the recent national results event Amahle was also awarded the title of second best learner nationwide in South African Sign Language, following the release of the 2023 matric exams.
