On Saturday 22 January Sporting Stars FC beat City Eleven Stars of Ceres 5-3 in a Men’s Regional League game. Abulele Mkala, who was also the man of the match, opened the scoring for Sporting Stars from a penalty spot after Faustino Plaatjies was fouled in the 7th minute of the match. City Eleven Stars drew scores level in the 25th minute of the match. Waleed Hollenbach put Sporting Stars back in front in the 42nd minute from a direct free kick. At half time in the second half City Eleven stars drew level again in the 60th minute. Mkala scored his second goal after great interplay with his brother Sibabalwe Mkala who beat three defenders and Abulele finished brilliantly. Tesswill Nkoko scored a fourth goal in the 76th minute after Kirwynn Rhode beat two defenders and Nkoko latched on to the ball in the 82nd minute. Mkala finished with a hat trick from a penalty spot after Rhode was brought down by the goalkeeper of City Eleven Stars. City scored their third goal in extra time to end the game 5-3. This weekend Sporting Stars will travel to Khayamandi to take on FC Cheetahs from Stellenbosch. Foto:
