Naledi Lecheko, a former pupil at Vusisizwe Senior Secondary School in Zwelethemba, received an award from the Cape Winelands district for being a top learner in the final Grade 12 exams of 2017.
The award ceremony was held at Stellenbosch Hall, where all the top learners from different districts received awards for their hard work.
What kept her going during the final exams was a desire to work hard enough to pass and acquire enough points to be able to get into university.
Naledi plans on studying towards a LLB degree at the University of the Western Cape.
